New CEO, Dominos 'Lifer' Nils Gornall, brings DPP to an inflection point

Dominos Pizza is one of the world’s most powerful franchise brands.
There are several listed Dominos entities - the original US entity, a UK entity, an Australian entity, an Indian entity, and so on. One of the lesser-known listed entities is the Polish master franchise owner, DP Poland Plc (DPP on London’s Aim index).
In this blogpost we will argue that the company had been performing sub optimally for years (to varying degrees at different stages), because nobody with a strong background from other successful Dominos businesses had been involved to ensure that the Polish entity was employing best practices. Dominos Poland had been experimenting with unnecessary menu items and losing sight of the most important thing - good quality pizza delivered as hot and as fast as possible, at attractive prices, and with customer touch points in store and in app giving an impression of quality. And of course, the impressive progress in Polish GDP in recent years is an additional boost to DPP’s prospects of future success.
As of July 2022, the company has had the benefit of Nils Gornall as the new CEO. He is a ‘Dominos lifer’ from Australia, who got his first experience delivering pizzas at age 15 and managed to become a franchisee by age 22. As of this year he will have 30 years experience in the Dominos business.
